What amazes you?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 02, 2008:
That I can always find something else to do than what I should be doing at the moment. If there was a prize for BEST Procrastinator of the year, I'd probably win it hands down. I do this so slickly, I even fool myself about it - because I'm always appearing to be busy - but it's just not busy at what I should be busy doing - so everyone thinks I'm so productive, and sometimes I even think I'm being productive, and I'm not.
Like right now - I have a dozen different important items on my "to-do" list (and I actually wrote one out today, as part of my resolve to be more efficient this year), and instead I'm sitting here typing this.
That's what is amazing me right now! ~ :-) ~

Help

Maybe we can start a prorastinators pod or something, for I too should be doing any number of other important things and here I am reading and commenting on your reflection. I appreciate the honesty in your answer, though, above all.
Andrea
I'm sitting here smiling in recognition…yes, a procrastinators' pod…I'm sure we'll get around to it soon;)
Haha too funny! I LOVE your ability to talk about in such a humorous way.
The only problem I see happening with a pod on procrastination is that you'd spend the better part of your days discussing how you procrastinate while still doing that very thing! LOL
There's nothing to it,but to DO IT! I've procrastinated losing weight and getting in shape for a very long time. I know all too well how we can make New Year's resolutions and soon forget about them in the next breath. So instead this year I kicked it off right by joining a 90 day body transformational challenge forum where we support each other by posting our activities and meal plans. Pics don't lie so it motivates me even more to do the work to achieve the results.
I too appreciate your honesty and perhaps you should look into another approach that actually works for you. Perhaps you could ask The Herald for advice in this area. :-)
Part of procrastination, for me at least, is the time I spend gathering the energy to do the more important or creative things. It's my daily warm up when I actually have the luxury of doing such a thing. I can choose to procrastinate in any number of wonderful ways, and my procrastination activities sometimes wind up being more meaningful or teach me more than the thing I am putting off. I could actually see a pod working, because it would help people to work through their reasons for procrastination just by having a place to talk about it ; )~
In any event, Lisha, I wish you great success getting in shape and with your 90 day body transformational challenge forum. That sounds exciting.
Gemstar, may you peacefully procrastinate to your hearts content, for when the time is right, you'll do what you need to do.
I've got an idea how to beat this procrastination thing…..exchange your list of what you “should be busy doing” with what your are doing, and you're suddenly the most productive person you'd ever want to by…..
Then…the idea of the possibility introduces the question of which is the real should –from the universe's percpective, of course.
Or was that a new course of procrastination?
ROFL……..LOL!!! Thank you all for your interesting comments, and perhaps we've just discovered something important here. IF I had the time (lol) I'd probably be really good at cultivating that Procrastinators Pod - and once I finish studying my NLP Coaching course, unless someone beats me to it, I just MAY start it up. (Then again, are we going to have “Pods” to “cultivate” - with all the upcoming Gaia changes….)
CG: Now THATS some major “shoulding” there - and probably the reason for the procrastination has its foundations in the universe's perspective - but rarely do I pick up on the purpose until it smacks me sideways in the chops.
Lisha: Wishing you much success in your determination to get into shape. That's another thing on my “should” list for this year. I think I found the solution tonight for part of it - put less on my plate - I actually did that because I didn't want to be too full when my evening client showed up, and funny thing, I haven't felt hungry at all - with about half the food.
Andrea, you're right - I generally still manage to get everything done - usually not a minute too soon, though, and that is sometimes pretty scary (lol)!
Helen - please tell me you're not going to try to compete with me for the prize - I will fly down there and hug you into submission if you do……LOL!!!! ~~{*.*}~~
I was such a list-maker and sticker to it planner till one day my husband told me: “If you want to make God laugh, make a plan. ”
I heard his subliminal message, stopped the micro-managing of our vacation that I'd been doing, and luckily the concept of Now and Flow entered my life, “shoulds” went out.
Perhaps you're not procrastinating, Gem. You're flowing…and there's nothing to mind about that!
And now a joke, from a teacher who just loved all the “ould” words–“It's not that you should not, or could not, but that you would not.” [or any other permutation or combination of this!!!!
Hi Meenakshi:
Flowing, eh! Love that! So tomorrow my “flow” had better be more in the direction of getting stuff ready for Saturdays “event” or I might as well flush myself down the toilet!
I used to be a list and planner person - was frustrating as having an itch you can't reach to scratch when everyone thought I was “too stiff”. I'm actually going to have to get back into that at least to some degree, though, if I'm to accomplish what I want to accomplish this year. The luxury of procrastinating my time away is finished. Well, pretty much. eh?!?

“I haven't felt hungry at all- with about half the food”
WoW! Who knew?LOL Yeah many of us have had food addictions for various reasons. I'm kicking mine by going RAW. We had a raw Thanksgiving while everyone else was eating cooked food and as no surprise we weren't feeling all bloated and ready to take a nap like the rest of the family.
It is truly amazing to me how much I could eat before I made the switch to raw. When I ate cooked food it was like I was a bottomless pit. I could eat and eat and eat. Also what has helped is I'm finally addressing the issues and changing my associations to food. The whole pain/pleasure process.
Thanks for the warm wishes as I dive into this adventure…A little less talking about it and more of actually Doing it! :-) I've won the procrastinator of the year award several years running, but not this year. LOL
