What do you like best about birthdays?

If you ask me this question exactly one month from now, I'll be able to give you a very accurate answer.
Very few, if any of them have been remarkable up to this point in time - I'm hoping that hitting the big SIX OH will be the charm. Besides, I don't think it's all that important that the marking of one particular day should be all that outstanding. I think the important thing is how the days between those "goal posts" are lived - with integrity, loving fully, and trying not to dwell too long or too often on regrets.
If we were meant to live in the past, then we'd be there, instead of here in the present. We are here, now, hopefully living responsibly, and looking forward to the best for the future. Well, I guess that's what birthday's are all about, too, and probably what I like best about birthdays - knowing that because I made it this far, there's always a good chance I'll make it to the next one as well. One day at a time!

Thanks FD: Oh, I didn't mean to convey that I'm not happy right now - JUST THE OPPOSITE, in fact. Even about the a-g-e thingy. ;) Besides, Gemini people don't age, we just get well-seasoned. I'll still be a kid at heart at 80 (I hope). In spite of the sadness that I've had over the past year, I'd say I'm probably moving into one of the BEST times of my life.

PS - I think all birthdays ending in zero, double digits and even half decades are special birthdays. Sure hope I make it another 6 years myself.

Yes, it was a good one. Daughter and SIL took me out to dinner, and I received a very lovely top and blouse set from them. I did pretty much what I wanted all day long, too - a little unpacking, but mostly surfing the net and playing keyboards.
